Help Ram Muthukumarasamy
Fight Brain Cancer

10-year-old Tanishka and 14-year-old Sanjay Darshan knew their loving and playful dad was acting a little different last month when they noticed his right hand was not strong enough to do household chores.  Ram's wife Vinitha had also noticed that he had complained of fatigue and headaches as well as a weakness on his right side.

When all 3 of his loved ones urged Ram to get a checkup from his doctor for the symptoms, to the family's surprise, he was diagnosed with Astrocytoma Grade 4 which is a life-threatening cancerous tumor in the brain. Ram was a healthy, 45 years old dedicated husband and father and worked as an IT professional in Fremont, CA until he got this devastating news on July 4, 2022. No one in his immediate family has a history of brain cancer.

Astrocytoma Grade 4 is a malignant and aggressive form of brain cancer that affects 200,000 adult patients between the age of 50 and 80 every year in the US. Treatment options include surgery, radiation, and chemotherapy.

Ram is being treated at UCSF which is a world-recognized hospital for treating all types of brain cancers. Ram has not been able to work since his diagnosis and his wife Vinitha is working part-time when she gets time away from taking care of Ram. Both their children attend school even though the psychological burden of their dad facing a life-threatening illness makes it hard to focus on anything.

Ram and his family need financial support for transportation to and from Fremont to UCSF, out-of-pocket medical expenses for diagnosis and treatment, their children's tuitions, as well as household needs. Please help Ram and his family during this difficult period while he is fighting brain cancer.
